I know we've all been faced with that dilemma: you see a beautiful pair of gloves, you put them on and... they don't fit. Too big, too small, too tight or too loose. We've all experienced it. That's why today I want to dive with you into the world of glove sizes and the importance of a size chart.

Table of contents:

1. Why is it important to use a size chart?

Imagine you buy a pair of gloves online. They look perfect in the photos, but when they arrive they don't fit. Frustrating, right? By using a glove size chart, we can avoid these types of disappointments. It ensures that we choose the right size, so that the gloves fit comfortably and perform their function well. Whether you need gloves for the cold, for work or for a special occasion, size really matters.

2. Why does each glove have a different size and therefore also the size chart?

I hear you thinking: "But why isn't there just one universal size for all gloves?" Good question! Just as we are all unique, so are gloves. They are made of different materials, have different styles and are intended for different purposes. For example, a leather glove stretches differently than a knitted one. That is why each glove has its own specific size chart.

3. How do I measure my glove size?

Now that we understand the importance of the size chart, the next step is of course: how do I measure my glove size ? The most important thing we can tell you is to look carefully at the size chart and how you should measure your size according to that specific size chart. After all, each supplier has used its own method, so you cannot say that there is one way to measure your hand size.

Here are some methods you can use:

Method 1: Length and Width of your Hand

  1. Preparation : Make sure you have a ruler or measuring tape and a piece of paper handy.

  2. Measuring length : Place your hand flat on the paper with your fingers touching each other. Measure from the base of your hand (where your wrist begins) to the tip of your middle finger. This is the length of your hand.

  3. Measuring width : Look at your hand and identify the widest part, which is usually just below the knuckles. Measure this section from one side of your hand to the other, without including your thumb. This is the width of your hand.

Method 2: Length and Circumference of your Hand

Preparation : For this method you will need a flexible measuring tape.

  1. Measuring length : As with the first method, measure from the base of your hand to the tip of your middle finger.

  2. Measure circumference : Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your hand, just below the knuckles. Make sure you don't include the thumb in this measurement. The number of centimeters (or inches) you now see is the circumference of your hand.

With these measurements at hand, you can compare them to the size chart of the gloves you have in mind. It's always a good idea to consult the specific size chart provided by the brand or store, as sizes can sometimes vary.
